How can I communicate an error in the images?

I have recently found that a book which is marked as Baptisms is actually Marriages. How can I communicate this error so that I can be fixed?

FamilySearch Staff have previously announced on this forum that the FS Catalog is being upgraded. Due to this, corrections to the titles of films is not possible. They haven't said how long this will take.

I would like to know how to report this error, regardless of how long it will take to get it fixed.

There used to be a button at the bottom of each page in the FS Catalog where you could report errors. That button has been removed due to the upgrades. I'd guess that it will return when the upgrade is complete. Until then there is no formal way to report errors. The only thing you can do now is to post the error in this forum and hope that a FS staff member sees it and passes the information to the right person. It might be best to wait until the button returns.

@LeoSarasua, Hi. Please let me know what record you are referring to, and if just a group of images, a URL to the affected area would be great. FamilySearch has, over time, added the capability for a user to make many changes to an index record; however, I don't believe that includes the type of event, such as marriages, baptisms, deaths, etc. It is unlikely that this set of index errors would be corrected, for the time being - at least.

The general position, I believe, is that if an index allows one to find the original record then it has done its job. From that point one should rely upon the original record and the information that it provides. If the index error creates a problem when adding it as a source, one should attempt to identify the error as well as the correct information and using the Source, identify and then provide the correct information.

Having said that, I will be happy to look at the record that you have found to be in error, and see what can be done.

And just as a very minor point, with regard to what @A van Helsdingen has said; all that he as said is correct except that this would not be considered a Catalog error. The reason that I mention it is that, even when the Catalog work is completed, the general philosophy may well continue as described above.

    I hope this helps.

I interpreted "a book which is marked as baptisms is actually marriages" as referring to a catalog error. @LeoSarasua hasn't shared a URL or screenshot so there's no knowing whether this is a catalog or indexing error.
