Very frustrated!

My mom's side of the family is like a safe I can't get into. I've tried for years to find out information about them but with very little luck and hardly any names or dates that I can enter. I'm not even sure if the information I've been given is correct. Any suggestions or help with this would be wonderful. Small doses are better for me as I am already frustrated with the wondering if..... I'm entering the wrong information. Plus struggling with this for so long.

Thanks

It can be frustrating when you hit a "Brick Wall". Below is a link to a Help Center article with suggestions on how to do research in FamilySearch with links to different suggestions, including how to sign up for a free 20 minute virtual Family History Library consultation.

The link below will bring you to the Family History Guide that includes how to videos and information about what resources are available in different areas.

Below is a link to some great videos from the BYU Family History Library including some great ones on research helps. There is also a link to their weekly Webinars.

Hopefully some of these suggestions will help as you try to unlock your mother's "safe"

What places/countries/regions does your mom's side of the family come from? Hopefully someone who is an expert on that place can help you.

Echoing/expanding A's response: a century and continent to start with would be good. :-)

As it stands, your question can only receive generalist answers, but genealogy -- as you've discovered -- hinges on the specifics.

DNA testing can give you links to family members and may break down your wall.

This link will take you to a page in research wiki where you can ask for help with a specialist for a free 20 minute virtual session. This may be very helpful. https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Virtual_Genealogy_Consultations
