How do I get a batch that isn't completed?
Unfortunately, the system does not display or show if a batch we are opening has already started buy somebody else, and returned for you to finish it.
A few times I have indexed on batches near their completion, for me to check that it is well indexed or to make few correction and submit.

Hi Darrel. You can get a batch that has been partially or completely indexed in at least three ways that I can think of: (a) an Indexer returned it partially done for some reason (suddenly had to leave town?), (b) the time limit on the batch expired and the system pulled it back (partially done), and (c) a Reviewer sent it back for Reindexing with the option “keep the indexed data.”
As the Indexer who has inherited that partially or completely done batch you can double-check and complete it, or you can return it for another Indexer to do the same, and then check out a new batch from the same Project. It is not likely that your freshly checked out batch will be partially done.
If you do decide to keep and continue to work on the current batch, I would pretend to be a Reviewer and verify the validity of all of the already-indexed Fields and change what needs changing. I would not just accept what is already there as correct and carry on. Think of it as perhaps being relieved of some typing duty.
Finally, next time please ask your question in the body of your comment and then share your batch information rather than posting images. Click on the 3rd horizontal icon from the right to see how to share batch info. It’s easier on those willing to help because it alerts the potential helpers whether they think they can handle that type of question. You’ll get quicker and better answers that way..
UPDATE: It occurred to me that some might suggest that you just finish what the previous Indexer neglected to Index and let the Reviewer do the Reviewing. Your call
Good Luck.

Thanks for your thorough answer. I realized that it must be an unfinished batch after I sent the question and I appreciate your answer. Actually, it has been helpful to see the work the previous indexer did because it gives me experience in reading their interpretation of some of the handwritten records which can be be a challenge.
