Being able to block a user from contacting me
Since we can no long contact and turn in complaints about an individual, we should not have to deal with rudeness. We have no way to turn in a complaint privately, Feedback goes into the "community".

If you have a private complaint, I would try the following:
1) Title your question something like: "I need a moderator or administrator to contact me."
2) In the body of the question put something like: "I have a problem in Family Tree with private (or sensitive) details that do not belong on a public board. Please send me a direct message so that I can give the details without them showing here."

I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
FYI
[ 1 ]
You can, "Mute"; or, "Block", a User/Patron from contacting you through "User Messaging" of 'FamilySearch'.
Here is a "Knowledge Article" in 'FamilySearch'
How do I mute or block someone from messaging me?
[ 2 ]
You certainly CAN complain, "Privately", to 'FamilySearch' "Support" about, offensive; or, abusive language; or, content, you received through "User Messaging" of 'FamilySearch'.
You SIMPLY do so "Privately" via/through either, the Telephone; or, a "Live ("On-Line') "Chat".
You DO NOT have to do so through the "Public" nature of this "Community.FamilyForum".
[ Provided, of course, that, the Telephone; or, "Live ("On-Line') "Chat" facility, IS available, in your location around the World ]
IF, during either, the Telephone; or, a "Live ("On-Line') "Chat", you are DIRECTED (back) to use this "Community.FamilyForum"; THEN, simply advise, that you DO NOT want, to communicate such complaint, via/through the "Public" nature of this "Community.FamilyForum".
Those in 'FamilySearch' "Support" taking, the Telephone; or, a "Live ("On-Line') "Chat", should honour your desire; and, arrange to take the matter into the INNER Workings of 'FamilySearch' "Support"; where, you would most likely be contacted, at a later date, by the next "Level" of 'FamilySearch' "Support" (ie. that handles such complaints), via/through, 'Messaging' in 'FamilySearch'; or, direct "E-mail".
.
OR ,
Of course, you could take the course of action that 'Gordon' suggests.
.
I hope this helps.
Brett
ps: Here is the "Knowledge Article" in 'FamilySearch' that lists the, Telephone numbers; or, "Live ("On-Line') "Chat" facility, if available, depending on you location around the World.

The instructions on how to mute someone on Family Tree Messages are out of date. Clicking in a message text box no longer works.
What works now: View FT Messages in full window mode: From the Messages menu on your account menu bar, click SHOW ALL MESSAGES. Open any exchange with the other person. Click the name above or the initial in circle beside the text box of any message from the other person. You will get a pop-up with two options: Mute and Report Abuse.

You can also go to the following link and it will help you to report abuse..
