Request to add a collection to the list of projects

I am working with a professor who wants to use the 1820 census of manufactures https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/280127. He knows that he can access the digitized microfilm through FamilySearch, but he is interested in transcribing specific pieces of information for each entry for the entire census. Would it be possible to add this collection to the list of projects for indexing? And if so could the professor suggest a list of fields to index? I can be contacted directly via my email attached to my account [email protected]

Hi Christine. We can't suggest that indexing projects be added. The owners of the records determine the fields that are indexed when a project reaches that point. Here are a couple of help center articles that explain this:

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/can-i-make-an-indexing-request-for-records

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/do-i-have-a-legal-right-to-use-images-i-find-on-familysearch

Another thing you might do is contact the National Archives. The History Hub is a great place to ask them questions too.
