How do I post a question to a group?
Hello,
I have not been on the Community pate of Family Search for over a year and it has changed. I went to the German group to post a translation question but I do not see how to do that. How do I post a question within a group?
Thank you!
Debra

You may have to join the group first. If you're not part of the group, there should be a blue "join" button on the group's page.
If you've already joined the group, then if you go to Groups (in the left menu), the group should be listed when you click My Groups. Click the group, and there should be a "new discussion" blue button on that page, with a drop-down arrow next to it that allows you to start a new discussion, ask a new question, start a poll, or announce an event.
There may be a shorter or better way, but I haven't found it yet.

I am unfortunately completely lost in this new and improved system... My question (actually) is fairly straightforward.
How do you negotiate attaching a record to profiles that are outside the normal primary/parents/siblings/spouse/children? Specifically, my great grandmother is captured in the 1880 Danish Census, residing in the household of her maternal grandparents. But how do I manipulate the attachments in order to effectively choose the grandparent HOH when the only choices I have "up the ladder" as it were, is to select her parents. Oddly enough, the grandparent is not the record primary, which only seems to frustrate my cause of attaching all the household members accordingly. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
FYI
It can be done by "Changing" the "Focus Person"
Just quickly, in passing ...
Pictorially ...
Select "Change" [ ie. "1" ]
Then, in that 'Box' (ie, Filed) for 'Go To', ADD the 'FamilySearch Person Identifier' (PID) for the particular individual/person [ ie. "2" (a) ]
Then, select that 'Arrow' to the 'Right' [ ie. "2" (b) ].
Basically, that should enable you to "Attached" the "Source".
You may have to "Move" the "Record" on the 'left-hand-side', up to, the NEW "Focus" individual/person.
But, once that is done, you should be able to attach the "Source" as required.
I hope this helps, somewhat.
Brett
ps: My "Image" may take some time to go through "Moderation" (ie. Approval) - if need be, give it some time.

Joachim, I'll try to answer your question, briefly; if you need more detail, you should ask a new question, "properly" -- the Q and A section of Communities is slightly easier to use than Groups, because (as far as I know) you don't need to join anything to post. Just go to the topic/folder that seems to be the best fit (Family Tree, I think), and there'll be big blue "Ask a Question" button near the top right: https://community.familysearch.org/en/categories/family-tree
If you are attaching a citation that's an indexed record, then Source Linker can be convinced to navigate to other generations (or to in-laws), although it may take multiple iterations of changing focus people, and/or the "brute force" approach of pasting the PID in the right-hand "Change" drop-down.
If it's an unindexed image, then you'll have to save the citation to your Source Box and attach it from the grandparents' sources tabs.
