Suggestion: When a source record needs to be detached:
1) add a “re-attach to a different profile ID” option so if the correct attachment “target” is known, it can be attached in one step;
2) have it generate a “Source Linker” window so all the attachments can be reviewed and all incorrect attachments removed/modified, and maybe some unfinished attachments completed, all in one step
Example: (see attached .pdf for images)
https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/sources/LVWY-765 :
This is an incorrectly attached record:
Looking at “Similar Historical Records”, one can see who very well might be the correct attachee:
Looking at details for John Brewer L1JX-Y4R, possibility is confirmed:
https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/L1JX-Y4R :
Moving to detach…at this point, just detaching will leave the record unattached, even though we know to whom it should be attached:
Suggestion: add to this “Detach Source” window an option to attach to a particular ID, and then have “Detach” automatically launch open a “Source Linker” window with the new attachee as “Selected Person” so all incorrect attachments can be modified.

Maybe I am misunderstanding your issue, but I raised a similar point then found out this could be completed in one process. Once the ID (to which the source has been incorrectly attached) is found, go to the Sources section of that ID. But, instead of clicking on "Detach", click on "Review Attachments". When detached from that page, the source becomes immediately free to attach to the correct ID. So, next, click on "Not your family? Find your family" and enter the correct ID in the box reached via the link. In most cases, "multiple detachments" should allow for transfer of the source to, say, all individuals in the same record, who should be lined-up on the page. If this does not work, change the focus person or, if if you have problems, just repeat the whole process, one by one, for all those in the record / source (although I don't recall ever finding that necessary).
I would usually undertake this when a census record has been attached to a wrong family or, say, a christening record attached to the wrong child and parents.

That's perfect, thanks, I've been making more work for myself than necessary by going straight to the "Detach" button.
Sincere thanks,
Dan
