Enter each person. Where you enter them, e.g. Add Spouse, Add Child, ..., will build the structure of your tree.
Be certain the people you enter don't already exist, or have a person record. Use this (Ancestors in Family Tree • FamilySearch) to determine if your person already has a person record.
You may also search (several ways) to get a quick answer, but it is not guaranteed to determine such a record does not exist. I prefer to just go to the Recents and try to Add Unconnected Person with First Name, Surname, and Birth Year.

Gayle, it depends on what the document is for and what the indexing form is asking for. Be sure to look at the examples in the indexing instructions. These will show you what information you need to index and where the information will probably come from.
If the batch instructions show that you include all people on the document, you can make a new entry for that image. Often, there will be multiple entries and you'll need to delete the blank ones that you don't need.
If you still aren't sure, share the batch in a question here so that others can see your specific example, and can give a more complete answer. 😄

You can't delete posts on this site and there are no dumb questions! No worries.
The best way to get a answer to your question is to share the batch code or link so we can see what you are asking about. The easiest way is to provide the batch code and title of the project that is seen at the top of your screen. You can also find the code and link by clicking on the third icon from the right.
Usually you wouldn't index family members unless it was something like a census or a cemetery record where the project instructions say to index all the individuals on a document.
For instance, on Naturalizations you do not index the family members, only the petitioner and their spouse. People get that wrong a lot because they don't ask. 😊

I just submitted an index for a head of household but there were three other family members on the same page. I didn't see a question that asked for additional names so I mistakenly just hit submit. Now I can't find the same page or bring back that index, it just wants me to start a new index/document not related to the previous one. Is there anyway to get back to that record so I can finish the other three members of his family that were listed? Thanks

@Robert Howard Brown Hello! It sounds like you might have been working on the Liberia Census project. Once you have submitted a batch, you cannot get it back. No worries though since it will be reviewed by another volunteer and they will be able to add in the missing family members, or they will send the batch back for reindexing. If they send it back for reindexing, the next indexer will see the entry you created for the head of household and also add in the other three members of the family.
