I found a marriage act in a file named "marriage bans" and
the marriage bans are in the file labelled "Marriages".
I am not sure how to get this corrected.
this is the reference "bans" that contain the marriages.

Unfortunately, I have always found this issue to cause problems - as both marriage banns and marriage licence records have (nearly always) been indexed as "Marriages" by FamilySearch.
This practice has continued for so long, and applies to so many collections, that I doubt your example, or others, will ever be "corrected".
FamilySearch has been advised (over a period of many years) of the consequences of / damage done by treating marriage-related events as if they referred to the actual marriage (ceremony) detail, but there has been no positive response regarding addressing this issue.
Apart from the inaccuracy in implying the banns / licence details represent the actual event details, the current "source-linking" process leads to correct information being replaced (on the Person pages) with the inaccurate data. For example, if my relative was granted a marriage licence by the office of the Archbishop of York on 23 June 1803, but was actually married at Eston, Yorkshire on 26 June 1803, the correct details would disappear from display (after adding the marriage licence source) and be replaced by details relating to the earlier dated record - including "York" as the place name.
Knowing about this behaviour, I do not carry over the "marriage" data in such cases, but inexperienced users inadvertently continue to replace good data with bad, due to FamilySearch's way of indexing these marriage-related events and allowing such details to be carried over during the said process.
In the example I provide, the Archbishop of York's jurisdiction covered more than one English county - so the marriage event might not necessarily have even taken place in the county of York(shire), as the licence detail implies.
BTW - you will be surprised what can be found only after clicking on "Edit" under "Marriage" in the Relationship Events section. There can be up to five or six variants of the date / place - in different formats - according to the number of marriage / marriage-related events (relating to a couple) that are available as FamilySearch sources, and have been added by users! However, it is the one with the earliest date that finds its way to the Person pages of the couple concerned (i.e., is the displayed event detail).

Hi all
I understand Paul W's comment very well - however this is not my topic in this item.
To avoid this issue, I have startes using the images catalog when I am looking for a marriage act. In this specific case however, the catalog file (film) with the marriages is called "bans and promises" while the catalog file with the bans is called "marriages"
So it would be good to have these renamed.

I don't see these labeled as "marriages" anywhere. In fact, I don't see them labeled in English anywhere. Both the waypoints (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9T5M-7NJ?i=321&wc=Q82R-5CV%3A1007746001%2C1007968101&cc=2138481) and the catalog (https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/87790) are in Dutch: "Huwelijksafkondigingen". Where are you seeing "marriages"?

I am sorry, the labelling is indeed in Dutch.
The first one is labelled "Huwelijksafkondigingen 1813-1817" but contains "Huwelijken".
The second one, https://www.familysearch.org/search/film/004270678?cat=87790, is labelled "Huwelijken 1802-1820"
However, it starts with Deaths, then image 162 starts "Huwelijken-afkondigingen" and contains bans (afkondigingen)
I don't know if it is possible to change the labels, I am sorry if I didn't use the right wordings.
Let me add I am very thankful of the openess and collaboration on Familysearch, it helped me a lot correcting erroneous trees on other systems and finding more evidence of the correct data.
Thank you for your help,
Cecile

On film 004270678, Item 1 is labeled "Overlijdens 1870", and items 2-5 are labeled "Huwelijken 1802-1820". It's the second of these that's incorrect, right? Unfortunately, it looks like the error has been carried over into the waypoints, too; they're also labeled "Huwelijken". (Near as I can tell, all of items 2-5 are announcements/publications/banns, not marriages.)
We've been told in replies to other messages about catalog errors that the catalog is undergoing a major rework, making corrections not possible at this time. I don't know how long that situation is supposed to last.

Hi,
It is even before opening the film - I wouldn't open "huwelijksafkondigingen" normally
But I understand it cannot be changed for the moment, right - anyway, may be there are more of these, isn't it?
