In a list of marriage records at the end of one of them, in the place of the name of the officiator it says "license returned unused". Do I index the marriage anyway?

We do index the marriages even if they are voided or crossed out.

In the Project Instructions, General Indexing Guidelines, Crossed-Out, Corrected, Canceled, or Void Information

When information was crossed out, corrected, canceled, or marked void, follow the instructions for “crossed out” that match the situation.

    • When information was crossed out and then replaced, type the new information in the appropriate fields.
    • When information was crossed out, was not replaced, and can be read, type the crossed-out information.

The researcher will find the people by their names and will make their own conclusions.
