Source Records

Lately, new source records are being added to my family. When I try to access them, they were originated in Ancestry and I can't see them unless I become a paying member. Since most existing records on my family members were created by me on Family Search over several years, I kind of feel like my efforts have been hijacked and I am being blocked from seeing fake or erroneous entries by uninformed others.

Yes, it is frustrating to find those links just leading to the ancestry.com home page.

Providing you register with the website you should be able to locate the indexed records, but not the finer detail, of course.

You should not feel your work is being "hijacked" if these external sources are just supplementing your existing (FamilySearch) sources. Family Tree is an open-edit, community project and anyone else adding details or sources to the profiles (IDs) you have created could be a distant cousin, with an equal entitlement to involve themselves with these individuals as you.

If you suspect / cannot confirm whether these sources contain erroneous information, add a Note or Discussion item to the Collaboration section of the individual concerned, warning of the unconfirmed content of these sources.
