How do I delete a person from my tree
I know this has been asked a number of times before, but every answer I've read has not been helpful. Here are the persons' ID's # that are not the correct persons in my tree: KLSH-RQH and KLSH-RQC in case there is someone out there who can help me remove them. I have "detached" all records from those persons, but I cannot find how to "detach" THEM. If anyone is available to help, I'd sure appreciate it. This is a very frustrating system that I don't seem to understand at all.

It shows that each of these ancestors say Delete Person Unavailable. Try steps 1-4 below and see if that works.
Click Delete Person. If the link says Delete Person Unavailable, it means that multiple contributors have made changes to the record. Consider these alternatives:
- Edit incorrect data.
- Merge duplicate records. (Perhaps if you merge your Patrick with the incorrect Patrick, that would fix the problem.)
- Delete relationships. (How they are linked to your ancestors? )
- If the person never existed, contact FamilySearch Support.
Are the children showing under Patrick and Mary, their children? If not remove them as parents.
Good luck and hope this works.

There are two ways you can remove a person from your tree. #1: when you go to TOOLS on the person page, you see remove person, or remove person unavailable. The Unavailable means that you did not create the person's record, so you cannot remove it. #2: you can detach the relationship of that person as a child from the parents, by clicking on the pencil in their box, showing them as a child....this brings up another box, where you can remove/replace the parents, OR, go clear to the bottom of the box and click delete relationship. This will take them off your screen, but they will not be removed from the FamilySearch database.
This article is found in the Help Center, with the steps outlined above.
In the case of Patrick Deceased • KLSH-RQH, you will have to remove each of the children one at a time from the parents, Patrick and Mary O'Donnell...then if you add a marriage event to Patrick and Mary, you should be able to use the pencil in their box to delete their relationship. Please contact us again if you need more help.

Hello @TerryChurch2
What is your reason for wanting to detach these individuals as parents of these children? Is there one child that does not belong to them?
In the record for Mary O’Donnell there is a death source for the death of daughter Catherine Carlin Dawson, LRNC-47V, that names her parents as Patrick Carlin and Mary O’Donnell, so the parents should not be removed from Catherine Carlin Dawson, but her name could be edited to her maiden name.
We hope you understand that the sources are often found as record hints again, after they have been removed from the individuals, and may get attached by other users.
Please provide a clarification of you reasoning, so we can help you resolve your issue.

As we understand your request, you desire to have Patrick, ID# KLSH-RQH, and Mary O'Donnell, ID# KLSH-RQC, as parents of the children listed for them. We are not sure if you need to remove all of the children or just one child. Please find the person page for one of the parents and go down to each child, click on the pencil box to right of their name and follow the instructions in the link below:
We do not delete individuals from FamilySearch, we remove relationships. If you added a person incorrectly and decided immediately to delete him or her, you can do that. But if other people have added information, you can request to have an individual deleted. See link below:
We hope this information is helpful to you. If you need further assistance, please add a comment to this post.

Are KLSH-RQH Patrick and KLSH-RQC Mary O'Donnell not the parents of one of the children? Which child? My guess is you want to detach L2PR-2WL Steven Aloysious Carlin from Patrick and Mary. I see his marriage record names other parents.
To detach Steven from Patrick and Mary go to L2PR-2WL and under his parents Patrick and Mary, to the right of his name click the edit icon (pencil). Then in the editor click the "–" next to his name to remove him from the family of Patrick and Mary.

Thank you all so much for getting back to me in such a timely manner. I will try what you have all suggested and see which solutions are appropriate to my situation. The reason I wish to detach/delete the 2 persons from my tree is that they are not the right parents for the descendants I have already confirmed, but they have the same name as the ancestors that do belong in that spot, and I mistakenly added them to my tree before realizing my mistake. I wish there were an easier way of detaching them from my tree without deleting them from the data base. i am used to the seamless way one can achieve that on Ancestry.

On FT, when a profile is detached from another profile, it is not deleted from the database. It is still there.
If all the children should have the same parents then the easiest way to make the correction is replace one parent from the other parent and children, then replace the other parent. Replacement an option during detachment.

OK, So here are the steps that I have tried:
1) I was able to delete the husband, KLSH-RQH. It then did not allow me to delete the wife, KLSH-RQC.
2) I then tried adding my true ancestor, G89F-Y8N, in his place. For some reason I was not able to do that at this time, although later I was.
3) I tried replacing the wife with my true ancestor with the same/similar name. But when I thought I had done that, the person that I had tried to replace showed up again. It would not allow me to attempt to replace that person again.
4) I then tried adding a child, my true ancestor, that did not belong to the wife I am trying to delete, in hopes that I could then detach all the other children, and then replace the mother/wife KLSH-RQC. The problem is that those children belong to the incorrect ancestor that is now in my tree, and I cannot separate them from her. When I mistakenly added this person to my tree, I did not realize that those children would automatically be attached.
5) I again tried adding my true ancestor husband, G89F-Y8N. This time I was able to do so. I was then able to add his true wife, G89F-19D, and their 2 children. It did not delete the other family, so I'm not sure how this might confuse others who are looking for the correct relationships in that other family.
6) I thought I had set it up so that my tree read Patrick McGrann, G89F-Y8N, husband of Maria Clare O'Donnell, G89F-19D. But when I tried adding more children, somehow Maria O'Donnell, G89F-19D, was again exchanged for Mary O'Donnell, KLSH-RQC, and I have no idea what happened to my true ancestor.
There must be a better way to resolve this issue, but I am not seeing it.

I see you are most of the way there. You have both of the desired parents Patrick Carlin and Marie Claire O'Donnell attached to the child Steven, but not to each other.
Next, copy-paste his mother's PID into the Add Spouse position on his father's PID. That makes a couple. Then edit Steven's PID to detach him from the wrong Patrick and from his mother alone.
Like this:
The end result will be Steven attached only to the couple Patrick Carlin and Marie Claire O'Donnell.
The reason this is so complex is there can be multiple sets of "parents" attached to the same child: step parents, adoptive parents, guardianships. And, parents can be solo, or a couple.

Terry, you found a bug! I wondered why you were having so much trouble so I tried to replace a father PID myself and I got this:
The PID does exist.

Thank you for checking this out. Soooo... I'm assuming I just wait a bit and come back to it later? (Sorry for being such a greenhorn...)

Hello @TerryChurch2
It seems that the easiest way for you to sort out Steven Aloysious Carlin's parents is to merge the duplicate fathers: Patrick KLSH-RQH and Patrick Carlin LBHW-M1Q. Once you merge these two, then Steven Aloysious Carlin L2PR-2WL will have only one set of parents: Patrick Carlin & Marie Clare O'Donnell.
During the merge you will need to make sure that you create a couple relationship between Patrick and Marie. Or, better yet, add the couple relationship before you begin merging the two Patricks.
Best wishes!
