U.S. Census 1840: records for Southern District, Bedford County, Virginia
In U.S. Census 1840, a good many, if not most, records for Southern District, Bedford County, Virginia, United States come out as being for Bedford, Pennsylvania, United States if their record pages are brought up, and come out that way again (as Bedford, PA) in profiles to which they are attached (if not edited first).
Example to illustrate: Peter M Wright, image 37 of 94, attached to Peter Meador Wright 1802–1860 • LHFN-XSZ
Thanks
(By the way, is this the right place to report such an issue?)

My research shows that 1,669 records were affected by the incorrect standardization. I have sent you a message requesting additional required information before I submit the situation for correction. We have a number of similar cases where a city or county was incorrectly standardized to a state that had a city or county with the same name (during or after the indexing process.)
We encourage you to make a note on the source for Peter Meador Wright 1802–1860 • LHFN-XSZ that the 1840 census place was inadvertently changed to an incorrect location.
