Wrongly attributed "Pioneer Oversees journey" email alert
I recently received an email from FamilySearch alerting me to an "pioneer" ancestor who had crossed the ocean to come to America. My ancestor, Carl Edvin Carlsson, LV6J-FCC, was never a member of the church. Yet he's being connected to a Carl E. Carlson in a database called "Saints by Sea, Latter Day Saint Immigration to America." My ancestor, Carl, did immigrate to America. However, my research shows that he came in 1909, and was already showing up in the 1910 Census in Colorado - highly unlikely then that the Carl E Carlson, who traveled to Montreal on Oct 22 1910 was the same person. I don't know the name of the ship that my Carl traveled on, but if he was traveling to Colorado, it's unlikely that he went to Montreal Canada.
It is nice that FamilySearch is trying to give us information about our ancestors, but if you're going to bother to do it, please make sure the information is correct.
