When I search for an answer in the community and find an answer I want to read, I get a screen that says "Permission Problem - You don't have permission to do that." How do I get permission?

    Russ

    Welcome to this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

Short Answer: You DO NOT get permission

    [ I will explain ... ]

And, I have to be careful here ...

Question: Are you referencing just the "Indexing" ("Q and A; or, OLD 'Group' of "Indexing Chat" - now axed)?

Or, are you just referencing 'Questions' everywhere, in general; but, especially, in this "Q and A" Section.

    But ...

    Generally speaking ...

IF, you get that, Lovely, Cheerful, face with " ... Permission Problem ... You don't have permission to do that. ..."; THEN, it means that a 'Question' HAS been taken into the INNER working of 'FamilySearch' "Support" to be actioned.

Basically, such means that 'FamilySearch' "Support" has taken a 'Question' (ie. matter), out of the "Public" nature (ie. gaze), of this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

I am just so disheartened with the way the "Moderators" [ie, 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Personnel)] make posts (ie. 'Questions'), either, DISAPPEAR (ie. that, Lovely, Cheerful, face with " ... Permission Problem ... You don't have permission to do that. ..."); and/or, CLOSE a 'Question'; so that, NO Other User/Patron can ADD any addition 'Answer'/'Comment'; especially, after making THEIR, one and only, 'Answer'/'Comment', the "Accepted Answer".

More often than not, the 'Answer'/'Comment' by a "Moderator" [ie, 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Personnel)] is somewhat lacking.

I am sorry, if I have 'hijacked' your post.

I hope this helps. somewhat; and, gives you some perspective.

    Brett

ps: There are many who are NOT happy with the way thing are going of late.

Hi Russ. When you do a search and you see alot of different answers, the only ones that you will be able to view are those that have the word Accepted in the preview. Hope that is helpful and saves you some time in your search until there is a solution. You usually don't have to go through too many pages before you come to an accepted answer. And if not, please post your question in this group and someone should be along to help.

@annewandering Try this for yourself and see what happens. Enter a keyword in the search bar to the right of the word Indexing and see if you can read all the answers that appear. Try using the words - batch won't submit. Maybe moderators can read every single answer but regular users surely cannot. The ones that were answered in Indexing Chat have Permission Problem. The ones that have been answered in Indexing can be viewed.
