How can I enable a fingerprint log-on for Family Search in the app?

My husband can just use his fingerprint to get into the app but doesn't remember how he did it. I've gone through everything I can think of - but no luck.

I'm hoping someone has an easy solution to this! I have to log-in with user name and password every time.

    @ColeenLyman

    Coleen

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    I am just thinking out aloud here ...

    And, I could be wrong; and, I stand corrected, if I am wrong ...

    As far as I am aware, such "Fingerprint" recognition is NOT available in "Mobile" Application version of 'FamilySearch' (for ANY "Mobile" Device).

    [ I just checked my "Mobile" Phone, with the Latest version of 'FamilySearch'; and, was NO "Fingerprint" recognition capability. ]

    And ...

    Furthermore ...

    As far as I am aware, such "Fingerprint" recognition would ONLY relate to ACCESSING the particular "Mobile" Device (eg. Phone; or, Tablet) that one uses.

    Just my thoughts.

    Brett

    ps: Question: Does your Husband's "Mobile" Device allow/use "Fingerprint" recognition?

    When my husband is looking something up in the FS App on his iPhone, he clicks the icon and the page that comes up asks if he would like to sign in with his fingerprint.

    Coleen

    Please be aware that, I know of; but, DO NOT use, an 'Apple' iPhone (and/or, iPad)

    [ie. iSO - Operating System ]...

    But ...

    That Said ...

    And, unless, the "Mobile" Application of 'FamilySearch', for 'Apple' Devices (ie. iPhones; and/or, iPads) has "Fingerprint" recognition - which I have NO idea ...

    As far as I am ware, that "Fingerprint" recognition, would most probably be a function of your Husband's iPhone, NOT; and, NOTHING to do with, the "Mobile" Application of 'FamilySearch'.

    But ...

    That Said ...

    I stand corrected, if I am wrong.

    Just my thoughts.

    Brett

    ps: On the "Mobile" Application of 'FamilySearch', on your Husband's iPhone, check the "Settings"; and, 'see' if there is ANY provision (or, option) for "Fingerprint" recognition.

    pps: IF, there is, "Fingerprint" recognition, in the "Settings", on the "Mobile" Application of 'FamilySearch', on your Husband's iPhone; THEN, let us know; as, I could NOT find any INFORMATION on such, in the "Help Centre" of 'FamilySearch'. It would be good to know. 'Thank You'.

    @ColeenLyman , I can help.

    Touch ID is built into the phone. Here is a link to instructions to get you started, assuming an iPhone that is recent enough and has iOS 14 installed. You can change the iOS version at the top of the page.

    https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/set-up-touch-id-iph672384a0b/ios

    Once you have Touch ID set up, go into the phone Settings app to activate Touch ID for the FS Family Tree app.
