I am have a question about example 2 in the instructions. Why was Thomas picked as the given name and not Tamba? Thomas is also listed as a surname in line 2 and 4?

I am noticing that the examples on this vary. It looks like the names may be written either way.

The Field Help for Surnames in this project, bullet point 2, tells us this: "The surname may be written either before or after the given names. Be sure to type the names in the correct fields in the data entry area. If you cannot determine if a name is a given name or a surname, type it in the Given Names field."

Good question, but in my experience the first name you see in a line is the given name and the last is the surname.
