Help Editing Family History
Hi, I'm having trouble editing incorrect information on my family lineage. There is an incorrect couple side by side, but if you click on the name, the marriage is correct as embedded information. Also, there are misspellings on other names. Why can't I edit my own family members' information? I was directed by the "agent" on the live chat to post my questions here.

Hello, @Shea-Alison Rose Thompson.
We would be very happy to help you with the specific editing you are trying to achieve. If you would please provide the ID numbers of the individuals in Family Tree that you are trying to edit and what corrections need to be made, then we can proceed more efficiently.
If the individuals you are working on are living, however, we would need to go to private chat.

Examples always help to allow others to give better answers. However, it sounds like you want to edit information on individual records. The easiest way to do this is to go to the person page you can do this by clicking on a name and from there clicking on the person link at the bottom of the pop-up card that appears. This should take you to the person page for the individual. From that page in the vital information section there is a edit associated with all information - you can edit the name, sex and birth/death information. All of the vital information about an individual. This is a totally open edit system so any user can edit information about deceased persons. Living records are private and they can only be seen by the submitter.
If the above does not help you and you have other issues post the specific example --- name id number and what you are trying to change and many will help you.
You could also look at this article from the help center.
Good luck with your research -- remember there are many here willing to help if you ask specific questions you will get much better answers.

The information you have on my mother Muriel Alene Cafik (Legard) says she was buried in England. Mom was buried in Durham Region, Ontario in the Erskine Cemetery in Pickering Ontario Canada.

Hello @AllanCafik
I found your mother's profile in Family Tree: Muriel Alene Legard Cafik LT13-TMD and see that while the vitals say she was buried in Erskine Cemetery in Pickering, Durham, if you click on Edit, you will see that the place has been standardized in error as Durham, England.
Since Family Tree is an open-edit environment, you are free to make any changes and corrections that are necessary. Simply click on Edit Burial, place your cursor in the place of burial field and add Ontario, Canada after Durham and then hit the space bar. The standard place will come up as Durham, Ontario, Canada. Select that and then go back into the place of burial field and enter Erskine Cemetery, Pickering, in front of Durham and click off the field in some other spot in the box. You will see the full place of burial in vitals, but the place will be standardized as Durham, Ontario, Canada.
In case you need further instructions, please refer to this knowledge article, from the Help Center:
Also, on another note, women's last names in Family Tree should be the maiden name, not the married name. You should remove Cafik as Muriel's last name. If you desire, you can enter the married name in Other Information.
In general, enter the birth name in the Vitals section of the Person page. Enter other names, such as nicknames, in the Other Information section. Legal name changes are an exception.
I'm hoping this helps you in your work in Family Tree.
