Moderator training

It would seem a good idea that moderators are given sufficient training to enable them to be consistent in their duties.

Two particular factors that are currently causing issues to be raised here are:

(1) Where some moderators give themselves an "Accepted Answer" response when, logically, only the originator of the discussion should be allowed to do this.

(2) Where some moderators do not notify the post originator why their post has suddenly vanished. We have been advised the reason for this is usually related to the matter in question being escalated, but only some moderators appear to be advising the Community member when this (or any other reason) is the case, inadvertently causing confusion and distress.

I think part of the reason for the second problem, and maybe also for some of the first, is that some moderators appear not to realize that what they see is not what regular users see.

In particular, I think some moderators are totally oblivious to the fact that escalating a post makes it and all of its replies completely and immediately inaccessible.

Moderator training may help with this, but what really needs to happen is for the escalation process to be completely revised. A question that needs to be escalated is likely to affect more than just one person, so if anything, they should become more visible and accessible.
