Make it easier to find slaves in records
I am currently reviewing a batch from Puerto Rico that includes many slaves. Unfortunately, these records include no surname or family members for the individual (only the slave owner)--so basically all we are left with is the first name and a date. I have come across a similar problem with previous records from South America and even from Spain. Would you consider adding a field for the slave owner in areas/times when slavery occurred? This might make it easier for the descendants of these individuals to located their enslaved ancestor. Thank you! -Lindsey Reeves

Oh my goodness! I've commented on this multiple times and they recently took down the Puerto Rico records that were available. Does anyone know if this is actually getting fixed?
It would be so huge to anyone researching ancestors that were enslaved which is already really hard!

Name of plantation, god parents (who were sometimes relatives), country of origin, and race are also other pieces of information that are frequently included with records of people that were enslaved that can be useful for genealogy.

Changes like adding entries for the slave owner in areas/times when slavery occurred? ,Name of plantation, god parents (who were sometimes relatives), country of origin, and race is a process with the agreement of the guardian or owners of these projects.
