What were the colors of the original documents that were in to Memories? Possibly the originals need to be modified.

I have to wonder if it is a setting/configuration of the display/monitor

if the "brightness" setting was way low - - that could cause something like what you are experiencing

but if so you would see the same problem with not just FamilySearch - but other sites as well..

or if it was a device that was on "power save" mode - and was displaying at a much reduced brightness.

The answers provided seem to be great answers with the amount of information provided. Another avenue to check before you start checking your computer is to go to the tree and in the upper right hand corner there is a section called Options. One of the choices is to invert colors is this checked? If so, uncheck and see if the problem is fixed. If not, then it is the computer.

No problem with other emails. Only yours. I work with whitescales all the time. NO document displays the same on any monitor. I have to keep this one as close to medium as I can. The html delivery is telling the Safari to display and weight the frame heavy towards hex code #000000 in red 51 blue 49 green 51 hex color #33 33 31 no matter how the screen interprets it. The text is hex code #33 33 33. that is far too little difference between those numbers for a human eye to pick out whether #00 00 01/ 00 0003 or #ff ff ff / ff ff fe

Are you seeing black/charcoal text on a white frame?

YOUR emails are coming to a MAC mini High Sierra os 10.13.6 Safari browser 13.1.2 Next level up is the problem riddled Catalina.

Will check on the PC microsoft-os chrome-browser (common default) probably gives the intended display for the emails, and very very nasty tweaks for photo edits on washed out near infra-red view documents.
