Question on how to tell if a person is the person you are looking for.

I did a search on Noah Peck 1785 and it came up with a list but it really doesn't give me anything to link any Noah on the list to anything I have. I just have a birthday and Maybe New Jersey or New York. What can I do next to make another step. Looking for wife or something. How do I hire someone to help with this side of the family tree?

We see that you found a few names but they do not fit what you already know. We would suggest that you take advantage of an interview with one of our specialist. Please review the Knowledge article listed below and set an appointment for that review.

Start checking for sources to prove the information you have for Noah Peck, and look for the sources in the list of possible matches.

Working up the list of ancestors between you and Noah Peck, check them for sources also this will help you to find more information and find the correct record or the best fit.

    Hello @TrudieFrick

Another suggestion is to take a step back and have a look at the children of Noah.

Check the sources you have for each child.

Is there a christening record which names a mother? Does the marriage certificate or death certificate of the child name a mother?

Also check to see where the children were christened. This might indicate where one of the parents was from and/or the place where Noah married his wife.

Also note the occupation of the father on each of the sources for the children. This can help identify which Noah is the correct one.

    Good luck with your research.
