I am looking for a deed in Barry County, Missouri that was executed 22 Apr 1899 between Nancy and Edward Betterton to Richard Nelson. It was recorded in Deed Book 67, page 464. I am also looking for a deed from Richard Nelson and his wife to Victor M Zinn that was executed in the same location on 2 May 1899. I have a court document that provides these specifics.

When I search the FamilySearch catalog for this time period I see that Deed Record v.L for 1885-1902 is available online. I realize that this is not the same Deed Book as is referenced in the court document, but I am hopeful. When I look at Film 931362 (DGS 8194264) I find two items on this filmstrip. The index shows that there are 3. Deed Record v.L appears to be missing.

Is there someone that I can talk to about this? Is it maybe on the filmstrip and simply never made it to the online version? Can I possibly ask for someone to do an onsit look up? I'm confused and very hopeful.

@Susan Davis Faulkner I'm sorry that you are having difficulty finding the 1899 deed for Richard Nelson. You've asked for help finding Deed records v. L 1885-1902 in the Catalog entry Deed and mortgage records, 1835-1903.

We have found, what appears to be, v. L at image 615 of film 931362. There is no marker (or title board) for the item containing v. L; however, at image 615 we can see the change in format of the deeds. The pagination also restarts with page 1.

Unfortunately, using only a very quick search, we were not able to find the 2 May 1899 deed that you are seeking. We do recommend that you search the volume carefully.

If you are unable to find the desired deed, you might want to consider contacting the Barry County Missouri Recorder of Deeds. You can find this associated website by clicking HERE. You will find, on this page, a link to Genealogy where you will see options to request a copy of the desired deed.

We hope that this will help you in finding these deeds.
