Is there a keystroke that will take you back to the first record or to the last record?

If you’re referring to the First Entry or Last Entry, there are no keystrokes for those actions. And there is no “fast-forward” (double-right-arrow) or “fast-backward” (double-left-arrow). But if you put the number 1 in the left box in the “Entry (current) of Entry (max)” at the top of the Entry Panel and hit Return or Enter on your keyboard you will be taken to the 1st Entry (I.e. set current = 1). Likewise if you set current = max and hit Enter you will be taken to the last Entry. To get to any in-between Entry, just set current = that Entry number and hit Enter or Return.
