Ordinances Ready enhancement request
(Moved from part of a message I posted in another forum...)
I request that Ordinances Ready include the following features in upgrades:
- Allow a patron to select ordinances for either gender;
- Add a checkbox to exclude a person from the list presented;
- Exclude persons with zero sources. It seems that the names being pulled up from family trees is just a list of people with data problems and no sources. Including those names has a high likelihood of providing the patron with erroneous information and causing duplication of ordinances.
- Provide patrons with their closest relative from Family Tree or their nearest expiration date from Temple Reservation list.
- Show the relationship of the person in the Ordinances Ready list.
Thanks in advance for considering!

I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]
In regard to the 'Message' posted in ANOTHER Forum ...
[ And, I realise that you are ONLY passing the 'Message on here ... ]
I am, Just 'thinking out aloud', here:
Please advise the original poster of that 'Message', the following.
Please be aware that the "OrdinancesReady" feature/function/facility is ONLY, really, for a quick; and, easy, process of, FINDING; and, PRINTING, the "Temple" Cards, when one is going to visit the "Temple", that day or the next, when one DOES NOT have ANY "Temple" Cards, 'on-hand', available.
The "OrdinancesReady" feature/function/facility is certainly NO substitute, for doing one's due diligence, well IN ADVANCE of visiting the "Temple" of, FINDING; and, PRINTING, the "Temple" Cards, for one's Ancestors, to have 'on-hand', available; regardless, of the "Gender".
As such ...
[ 1 ]
I would suggest that Users/Patrons will NOT be able to "Print" the "Temple" Cards, for the opposite "Gender"; as, the "OrdinancesReady" feature/function/facility is ONLY geared (ie. programmed) to do so, for the SAME "Gender" as yourself.
Because, we can ALREADY, "Print" the "Temple" Cards, for members of the opposite "Gender", to ourselves.
I have been doing so, for years; and, my wife has been doing likewise, so when can do the "Temple" Work for our respective "Ancestral" Lines.
One can do that yourself, in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch", in the "Ordinances" 'Tab', of one's Ancestors.
One can (, both, "Reserve"; and,) "Print", the "Temple" Cards for whichever "Gender" one desire, Male; or, Female; as, there is NO restriction.
[ 2 ]
We can ALREADY, either, select; or, deselect, an individual/person provided, BEFORE, "Printing" the "Temple" Cards'.
But ...
That said ...
The "System" just wants one to do the Work ...
IF, you deselect an individual/person provided, BEFORE, "Printing" the "Temple" Cards'; THEN, that SAME individual/person will REAPPEAR on the next attempt at "OrdinancesReady".
"OrdinancesReady" was NOT 'Designed' for us to, 'pick'; and, 'choose'.
IF, one wants to, 'pick'; and, 'choose'; THEN, "OrdinancesReady" is certainly NO substitute, for doing one's due diligence, well IN ADVANCE of visiting the "Temple" of, FINDING; and, PRINTING, the "Temple" Cards, for one's Ancestors, to have 'on-hand', available.

"OrdinancesReady" should NOT, be 'Designed', to "Check Out", the 'status. of each individual/person, as to whether or not, they are, "Sourced"; and/or, "Documented"; as, such is the RESPONSIBILITY of each and every Members User/Patron ▬ NOT the "System".

As far as I am aware, such is already covered ...
Take a look at the following "Knowledge Articles" in 'FamilySearch'
Where does Ordinances Ready get names?
https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/where-does-ordinances-ready-get-names
How do I find family names for the temple with Ordinances Ready?
Why does Ordinances Ready keep giving me the same family names?
Why does Ordinances Ready keep giving me ordinances that I just did?
Ordinances Ready gave me a reprinted family name card
.
Just my thoughts.
I know that this may not help the original poster of the 'Message'; but, I hope this gives the original poster of the 'Message', some perspective.

I also would like to see the exclude function available on the "Ordinances Ready" service.
This is my input.
First, thank you for providing the "Ordinances Ready" function. It saves hours of clicking and searching for persons who need ordinances done.
Second, I understand that there are many people who use the "Ordinances Ready" function to obtain temple work, and these people do not do additional research on the persons that appear in these lists. They obtain the names, print, and go to the temple, and they have a great experience.
I'm in another group of people. When I use the "Ordinances Ready" function, I examine the sources associated with the persons that are presented to me. I also look at the siblings, parents, etc. and I only reserve names of persons for whom I have confidence that existed and whose temple work is not already done. I standardize the dates and places if they're not standardized, if there's sufficient information to do so accurately. I click on the links on the "Research Help" and apply those suggestions if they are appropriate. I also look in Ancestry to see if there is additional information on the person that can be attached to the person. If there are duplicates, I resolve them if I can do so with confidence. Once, I've done my due diligence, I reserve the ordinance work for the person.
Now for the purpose of my note: There is a group of individuals that keeps appearing in my "Ordinances Ready" list for whom I've done all the research that I can, and I haven't been able to find sufficient sources to know that they actually existed or that their work hasn't already been done under some other ID. I've saved these individuals' names and IDs in a spreadsheet so that when they appear in my "Ordinances Ready" list, I don't research them again.
But "Ordinances Ready" keeps giving me these names of these people. A work-around that I've found is that my wife reserves the persons for whom I don't want to do the work, and then "Ordinances Ready" gives me a new list of persons. She and I do this until I've reserved the number of persons for whom I want to do the work, and then my wife releases all the reservations that she made on my behalf so that I could get new individuals in my list.
As you can see, this is a work-around, but it's an inconvenience for my wife to do it.
What would I like? Today at the bottom of the screen, there's a "Close" button, and a "Take to the Temple" button. I would like another button, "Exclude". When the list is presented to me, I want to click the names of those for whom I'm not interested in doing the work, then click the "Exclude" button, and then the software will find other names to put in the list for me to examine.
I'm sure that there are other researchers who are experiencing this same issue, and this function would assist them to identify individuals whose temple work needs to be done with confidence.
Thank you for listening.
