I am working on US, New York, Erie—Index to Land Records, Grantors, 1630–1975 [Part A] [MS15-FJW]
On the first line, in the grantor's surname column and in several other places throughout the page I see & o.
I don't think I need to index it, but am curious what it means. Line 1: Cora Reynolds & o. Line 7: Alice E Davis & o
Also I see & 1 in some places. Any idea what this means? Am I correct to not index it since it is not a name?
Also, how do I index the Grantor's name on entry 6?

Hi Lisa Kay. &o stands for “and others.” &1 means “and one (other)”. You might also see &w, meaning “and wife” or “& heirs.” etc. All those terms/descriptors do NOT get indexed - just ignore them and capture the person named.
What to Remember About This Project:
- When typing the name of the grantor or grantee, do not include descriptive words or terms, such as "by Atty," "et al," or "and spouse," that may have been written with the name.
Regarding Entry 6, just drop the Trustee part. You might also see a person’s name and then “as Executor.” Drop that Executor descriptor too in those cases.
