About duplicate names...On this schedule appear "John Clark" and "John Clark Sr". Since we are not to index name suffixes (e.g., Sr) am I correct in assuming that these would be duplicate names and only the first instance would be indexed?

Yes, you are correct since all the required fields are the same and the names are exact duplicates.

    • Index each unique name. Some names may be duplicated. When names are exact duplicates, meaning that all required fields are the same, index only the first instance of the name listed. Skip the other exact duplicates and then index the next unique name. Unique names include names with different middle initials and different name spellings or where the other required fields are different.

You are correct! Since there is no field for suffixes we do not index the Sr so they would appear in the index as the same name. The family researcher will see the Sr when they look at that page.
