reviewing city directories and widows

When I review city directory indexing and see widow and no spouse's name, the indexer has typed Mrs in the prefix. Mrs is not showing in the directory. I understand why the indexer did this. So, do I let it pass or delete the Mrs.?

If Mrs is not on the image, we do not index the information. You should delete Mrs.
