Please Correct Info. You Have Installed on My Family Tree
I received an e-mail today suggesting I should celebrate my ancestor's birthday this month. One of the birthdays listed was for David Davies. You have the wrong David Davies. The correct David Davies in our family was born in 1812 and died in 1871, not 1890. He was married to Elizabeth LLoyd in 1836. Children were: William, Ann, Thomas D., David, Edward, Richard, Austin, and Elizabeth. Please change your records.

Hey Robert,
I'm not one of the staff here, just another user. But you might like to know that the trees on this website aren't owned by any one of us. It's one family tree that we all share.
Whomever added the information you are contesting may have been misguided, or they may have had evidence to add whatever they added. Feel free to go and have a look. If they have no sources, and you do for your information, you're most welcome to replace it.
If there are contesting sources, then it comes down to giving a reason for why your source would be more accurate when making the change.
So, it's your tree as much as it is ours, feel free to go have a look, and update what you can if you can prove there's more reason to trust your information over the information that is in there.
The sources part is really, really important. If you just go make the change because you "know" the correct information, just as you don't trust whoever put the existing information in there, they won't trust you, and will just change it back.
Being open about where information comes from, is the key to making our family tree work.
