We found Florilla Meeker 18 May 1800 – 25 March 1877 • LZPK-X5Q and Florillo Meeker 1803 – 5 December 1864 • LYX7-YKV as children of Benjamin Meeker K26Y-Y8J and Mary Polly Rice LZPK-DG3. There is at least one source for the female, Florilla Meeker, which names her parents, as Benjamin and Mary (the record of her marriage to Flavius Bolter/Butler. There are also Find-A-Grave memorials for both Florella Meeker Butler and Florell Meeker. Thus, there are two individuals with similar names, female and male, but it doesn't appear that Florell/Florillo Meeker is the son of Benjamin and Mary Rice Meeker.

Another thing to consider is that Florcello Meeker shows up in the United States Census, 1850, as being born in Connecticutt estimated 1803. He again is listed in a marriage application in Ohio, 1856 for his son, Barney Meeker.
Florilla Meeker is mainly shown in Vermont, with her own marriage and her death record and Find A Grave Index.
The point being the location of these events are very far apart in the relationship to each other.

Florello spent most of his life in the Oswego NY area along with his son Lorenzo. They were both in business and in city politics. They then moved to OH with Florello ending up in Toledo, while Lorenzo moved to Detroit where a brother Boliver was, and he worked there for a bit, before going back to Oswego. Boliver had a thriving Block business (blocks and tackle for the boat shipping business).
It interesting that with the closeness of Leslie Michigan to Detroit, (40-50 miles) I've never come across a mention of Benjamin in connection with any of the Florello 'clan'.
Years ago I spoke with George Meeker, now deceased, who at that time had a huge collection of Meeker information. He mentioned that if a father would name his daughter Florilla, he probably could name a son Florello. I think this line of reasoning has brought Benjamin to being considered as the father of Florello.
Anyway, I'll keep looking. Thanks for your thoughts on it.
