Do I just put No Extractable Data if the record is so light that it cannot be deciphered?

I've tried adjusting the contrast and brightness but still can't read it.

You could, but you could also send that batch back for someone else to do. (Batch; Return Batch)

@Dawn Pheysey it is great to do as Dellory stated, but in the case of hard to read handwriting like this you would not put No Extractable Data. You would mark as "unreadable". It is the 5th icon from the left or control U. Thank you so much for your work in indexing.

@AndLinda Unreadable is not a choice in Step 1. Indexing an entire record by marking each field unreadable would not be a good choice. That's useless to a researcher. Marking it NED would ensure that the batch was looked at once more - possibly by someone who is more skilled and/or more tenacious or with younger eyes.

Absolutely correct. So sorry. The whole record. Thank you.
