In an Italian death record should the father's surname be assumed to be the same as the deceased or should the surname space be left blank

    Do you have a batch code that we can look at so that we can see the Field helps and the Project instructions? Often these give us clues on how we can address this question. You can find the seven digit batch code at the end of the title of the batch you are working on.

    No, you should not make that assumption. The Field Help (purple circle) will instruct you "Do not assume a surname from the surnames of others mentioned in the document."

    Mark the surname field blank by typing Ctrl + B or Cmd + B on a Mac. Or use this icon:
