French death records in Italian batches

I notice that in the Genova Italian batches often a batch appears that consists entirely of death records, written entirely in French. I've returned such batches since my French isn't good enough to index/review these.

However, a couple of review batches have come through where the indexer simply marked all images as "No extractable data" which really isn't true.

How is Family Search handling these batches... so that French speakers have a go at these "Italian" records?

In the meantime, I've simply been returning these batches, and if reviewed as "No extractable data" I've returned them to be reindexed, discarding the data so they'll actually index the batch.

Am I on the right track? Any advice?

You're on the right track! Speaking as one who has done tens of thousands of Italian records - that's exactly what I do. But I don't know if there is any specific way that FamilySearch is handling these batches which are all in French.

Thanks. I've done a ton of Italian records too, but all these French records are new to me. I'll keep sending them back, and hopefully some French speakers will pick them up.

Again, any way to identify these as French ahead of time, or to make them available separately for French indexers?

Indexing batches are created from records in the order in which they were filmed. When records in different languages were stored together and filmed together, I don't know of any way to separate them with our current process of indexing.

The good thing is those records that are not indexed and keep getting sent back are reviewed to see why that is happening. They will be indexed at some point. Keep sending them back! You are doing great!
