A friend of mine would like me to begin her family tree and do the research, additions, etc. I am eager to do so, since her family ancestors really interest me. However, I will need to do it using my personal computer. Can I do that? If so, how?

(I already have my own family ancestors tree set up and have been doing extensive work with it.)

You can go into FamilySearch and start a tree for the "unconnected person" link

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-add-an-unconnected-person-to-family-tree

If you do this the same rules apply as for yourself. Living people will only be seen when logged into your account and deceased individuals will be seen by everyone. Thus it will be somewhat difficult for your friend to view the tree. A better solution would probably be to assist your friend in obtaining a FamilySearch account so that information is added to their account with their personal login. That does raise an issue about using another individuals login information which is frowned upon. If you are an member of the church there is a helper function that can be used to work in the friends account. You might investigate that possibility.
