Need for quick answers about using community
It would be helpful to have a Q and A category called Community where guests could ask a question and get an answer.
It would also be helpful to have a Help Center category called Community with knowledge articles that answered commonly asked questions.

The missing category was noticed by users as soon as the forum appeared in its present form.
It is currently being advised that all questions should be placed in "Q and A", rather than "Ideas", so why still no "Community" category in "Q and A"?
My personal wish is to have "Q and A" and "Ideas" combined, which will save a lot of work for those who want to help solve / address the problems of others. Many of the rarely used "Groups" could probably be wound-up, too, as questions could be just as easily responded to from one main platform ("Q and A" or "Ideas"). As an example, there is currently a "Family Tree" category under "Groups" (rarely used), as well as one under both "Q and A" and "Ideas". What's the point in retaining most of the items under "Groups" if, for example, it has been considered unnecessary to keep an "Indexing" group going? (In English, that is - I see there is still an Indexing group for Spanish speakers!)

@jcbabcock Wonderful idea. We'll get this added shortly.

@Paul W I'd like to better understand your suggestion around combining Q & A with Ideas. Could you elaborate on how you envision this working?

I was never even aware of the old "Community" platform until shortly before it was wound-up and replaced by this "Vanilla" one. Most of us (reasonably) experienced FamilySearch patrons used the former GetSatisfaction.com forum, which was not divided into any sub-sections. We were led to believe "Ideas" would be a closely matching replacement forum, but it has not met this expectation.
On GetSatisfaction, both direct questions and ideas for improved site functionality (relating to all of FamilySearch, including Family Tree) were posted alongside each other. I just do not see why this should not be the case now - it worked very well before and, with some tweaking, could lead to a great improvement with Community.

There is a Q&A category for help using this community which has been present since the first day Communities opened. Unfortunately, it is not listed under the Q&A section. The only way I have to found to get to it is through the rolling panel on the home page:
It is not very active, having had 17 questions posted in June, but at least some people are finding it. However, like many of the Q&A and Ideas sections, the posts are pretty random. Only 6 of the 20 most recent English questions have anything to do with how to use Communities.
