Entry format Template Changed after latest update for South Africa Natal birth record indexing
Up until today, the Entry template for birth records for South Africa Natal had the father's given name box immediately prior to the father's surname box. These two now have the child's sex box separating the two boxes for entry of the father's name. It would be better to have the child's sex box prior to the father's name boxes. I expect this will need to be fixed by an administrator.

Hi William. If you’re using Form Entry Mode, you can reorder the Field “boxes” yourself by dragging and dropping them where you want them. Hover your mouse on the Field name (e.g. Child’s Sex). The mouse cursor should become a little cross (I think), and you should be able to press and “drag” the Field name and associated Entry “box” and “drop” it where you want it.
Form Entry Mode (versus Table, Column, and Row Entry Modes) is the only Entry style that has this reordering feature. Also, using/clicking the 3 dots at the top of the Entry Panel you’ll find an option to reset the Field order to the “factory settings.” In your case you don’t like the “factory settings” so you’re moving the Fields around to suit your preferences..
You can also hide Fields that don’t pertain to the Batch you’re working on.

If you want to do that, William, just use the trashcan icon immediately upon opening your batch, with the option "all blank entries", click "Delete" and all your images will have just one blank Entry. They put those extra entries in to remind Indexers to index everything available, but it does cause confusion, making people think that there is more to index.

Thank you. I also noticed recently that the default Entry # was changed from 1 to 4 on the first image. This occurred when I indexed a partially completed batch. I know how to reset it to 1 for the current batch, but have not figured out how to reset the template.

You’re welcome, William. I see that the project provides you with 4 blank Entries for each image. That does not mean that you must use them all. Index each image, using as many of those blank Entries as you need for each image. You can move from image to image using the thumbnails at the bottom. When you’ve finished indexing all the images, then use the trashcan icon in the middle of the horizontal toolbar with the option “all blank entries” and click “Delete.” The reason I emphasized indexing all the images is because is that the Trashcan tool, when used in “all blank entries” mode operates on all images in the whole batch. So, if you use it too soon, you might need to add Entries for some of your images if they need more than one.

The vast majority of images require only one entry. I would prefer to add entries when needed (ie for twins). I just wondered if there is a way for me to reset the template from 4 to 1 entry per image. Apparently that is not permitted. Thanks again for the info.

Hi William. I thought I answered this already, but I'll mention it again. If you want to have only one blank entry per image, then when you're ready to index the first image, just click on the trashcan icon, choose "all blank entries," click "Delete" and now each image in your whole batch will have just one blank entry.
