Subject: FAULT / FLAW ... What is WRONG, with BOTH that of, MESSAGES; and, NOTIFICATIONS!!!???
... They are NOT working ... even worse ... they are "All" GONE ...
[ Submitted in the "Topics" of, "Family Tree"; and, "General User Interface"; and, "Other" ... ]
BACKGROUND
I noticed that I had a NEW "Notification" (ie. In 'FamilySearch', not the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum ) ...
ACTION
So ...
That said ...
When I tried to check that "Notification", all I got was this ...
NOTHING ...
Then, this ERROR Message ...
[ I have NEVER "Muted" ANY of my NOTIFICATION "Categories" ... ]
Then, this further ERROR Message ...
[ I have BOTH, "Read"; and, "Unread", NOTIFICATIONS ... ]
ALL "My" NOTICICATIONS are GONE ...
Furthermore ...
Then, I decided to check "My" MESSAGES ...
Same, same ...
And, ALL "My" MESSAGES are GONE ...
I am NOT a 'happy chappie' ... especially, if ALL "My", both, NOTIFICATIONS; and, MESSAGES, are GONE ...
It is NOW (currently) Thursday AFTERNOON ( 10 June 2021 ), my 'Local' TIME ...
And, it is NOT, Sunday 'Night'/Monday 'Morning', "Mountain Time"; and, there is NO notification/indication that there is a "System-Wide" Release/Update in progress.
[ Perhaps, a Programmer's/Engineer's "In-Line" Release/Update in progress ... ]
So ...
That said ...
What is going on!!!???
And, I checked with ANOTHER User/Patron ... Same, same ...

Brett, We had a brief outage of our Messaging/Notification service, which is probably what caused the issues you experienced.

Well ...
It may have been "... a brief outage of our Messaging/Notification service ..." to those AT "FamilySearch' ...
But ...
That said ...
It was definitely of concern, in fact, quite 'scary'; as, a User/Patron 'seeing' one's, BOTH, "Notifications"; and, "Messages" ... "All" GONE ...
That 'Outage' seemed to last for some time, it did not seem 'brief' ...
We headed off to our 'Local' "Family History Centre" of the Church for the Afternoon and Evening, to help others; so, we did not get back to "checking" on the "Status" of our, "Notifications"; and, "Messages", until this morning.
'Yes' ...
What a relief, our, "Notifications"; and, "Messages", seem to be back ...
But ...
That said ...
There seems to be some Problems/issues ...
(1) the YEAR of the 'Messages" is NO LONGER being displayed in "List" Column on the that 'right-hand-side'
... [ NOT very helpful WITHOUT the YEAR ... ]
and, I am not certain about this next two; but, ...
(2) Not ALL of My EARLY (ie. Original) 'Messages' appear to be there
and, I seem to be 'missing' the odd one or two in the rest of the list, as well - I have NEVER "Deleted" ANY.
.... [ Question: WHAT 'Date did "User Messaging" in 'FamilySearch' commence ... I thought it was in 2014? ]
(3) I thought that we used to be able to "Add" ADDITIONAL Users/Patrons to "Messages" once started ...
.... [ ie. Subsequently ... ]
I thought I remember that ability, was added, some time ago ... could be wrong ...
Just a few quick observations.

ps: It is a real disappointment, that those "Screenshots", that I posted here, are STUCK in "Image Moderation"
