So I just got a batch to index US—City and Business Directories, 1749–1990 [Part C] [M3WV-FDV]

The location of this directory at the top of the page is Quebec, Providence of Quebec. Do you still want this indexed even though it is under the US city and Business Directories??

    Connie,

Since the batch is included in the project you should index it. There is nothing in the project instructions that say other wise. We need to capture this information. Before it is posted publicly this Quebec information will be put with the other records associated with Quebec.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Quebec could also be a city in one of the US States.

If I'm unsure of what the directory place is, I usually look at the surrounding ads, or find some obscure street name or business name and google them. I always find the city that way.

If you have a batch number we can look with you. Sometimes on these directory's the place will need to be marked blank.

You cannot use the advertisements to index the Directory Place per the project instruction in What To Remember About This Project:

    • Do not use places listed in an advertisement as the directory place.

We also should not use google or other search engines and use a street name or a business to figure out the directory place. We only index what is seen on the image itself.

Very often, the directory place is blank on these.
