How do I create a gedcom file of my FamilySearch data?
I want to share data from my FamilySearch account with my Ancestry account. I've already input dozens of names and information into my FamilySearch tree and I don't want to do it all again, one by one, into Ancestry.
Ancestry requires a gedcom file to import data, but FamilySearch does not allow this.
FamilySearch provides a vague suggestion to download a program from their Solutions Gallery - without explaining which one will do what I need!
I have searched every program in the Gallery, and there are NO free programs that will do this simple process. As far as the programs that charge for their use, I will not pay for a program without knowing whether or not it will do what I need before I pay for it - and none of the pay-for-use programs clearly state that they will create gedcom files from FamilySearch.
Why isn't there a simple solution to this problem?

There is an option in Ancestry to import data from FamilySearch into Ancestry. Log in into Ancestry, and click on Trees on the menu at the top of the page. In the drop down menu, you will see the selction "Import tree from familySearch"
I hope this helps you. Good luck.

I believe there are also free versions of Ancestral quest and Legacy that can be used. Sync them with Family Tree and then create a GEDCOM file from the programs. You can then import into ancestry. All information may not transfer such as memories etc.

It looks like you want to find an easy and quick way to share data (names and information) from your FamilySearch account with your Ancestry account.
In the Help Center in FamilySearch (click on the ? in a circle at the upper right hand corner of FS) there is an article entitled, How do I create a GEDCOM file? You may have reviewed this already. Here is some information from the article I think may be helpful in answering your question.
You cannot download GEDCOM files from Family Tree to other sites. The GEDCOM standard does not provide a way to store reason statements and other types of information that are crucial and unique to Family Tree.
As you may know, you can create a GEDCOM file from other partner sites and upload it into the Pedigree Resource File on FamilySearch.org where you can preserve it for your use and other users.
Many FamilySearch partners have products that create GEDCOM files. Some of them also allow you to download information from Family Tree, make changes to that information, and then post the updates back to Family Tree. See the FamilySearch Solutions Gallery for information about these products.

It was mentioned above by GilbertStaepels1 that you can link an ancestry account to a Family Search account. This only works if the owner of the Family Search account is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and has one of the special ancestry accounts that are available to church members. Therefore it is not a general solution.
