Zachary,
Thank you for giving the share batch number. All the names before Dickens begin with a C. Yes this is fancy writing but this appears to be an index with the last name in Alphabetical order. So the last names before Dickens are Craig, Craig, Camper, Carper, Clark, Clark, Ceaviness and Cox.
You can click on the hand writing icon at the top (fourth from the right) and see how the letters may be written. It takes practice but soon you will be able to understand the letters.
Hopefully this will answer your question about this batch.
Thank you for indexing, it helps so many people find their ancestors.

The name after Clark is Caviness, the fancy C has a little script on it. The names are only in alphabetical order based on the first letter.

Zachary,
Please provide the batch code so we can take a look. The batch code is found at the end of the Project title at the top, above the image to be indexed. This is the format: [XXXX-XXX]. Thank you!
Another idea is to use the "reference images." This allows you to view the pages before and after the one you are indexing. Reference images are found by clicking the last icon that looks like a book in the vertical tool bar to the left of the image.
