Windows 7 computers
I am the Stake Family History Center leader. I have a couple of questions about old computers.
It is my understanding that the Church will replace computers with Windows 9.1 and 9.2 OS but not 7.0. Is that correct? I have 5 windows with Windows 7 on them but they still will hook up to the internet so people can use them with Family Search, but they won't update, so can't connect with the printer. Should I just keep them and use them until they are no longer working at all, or shall I send them in, hoping that the Church will replace them?
I have 3 computers with Windows 7 version 7, and I know that we need to scrub them and send them back.
What is the best thing to do with the 5 that still will run with the internet but won't hook up to the printer, send them back, or keep using them?

All Windows 7 Computers should already be upgraded to Windows 10.
IF you still have Windows 7 computers in your center contact us immediately from your center using the contact number below.
If they cannot upgrade, they must be removed from the network and/or disposed of by going to https://churchpcsurplus.com and follow the on-screen instructions. Those Centers in Alaska, Canada or Hawaii must contact their local FM to have the computers removed from the center.
The hard drive must be completely erased and left with no operating system or recoverable data.

Some computers were supposed to be upgraded to Windows 10 but for various reasons were not so they have to be done manually.
1 Open the FHC_Application_Finder.
2 On the Windows 10 image section is a list of the computers than can be updated to Windows 10.
o If the computer is on the list do the following:
Click on the Windows 10 image.
Run
3 Wait for the download process to finish.
4 Open the PDF file named USB_Imaging.pdf.
5 The program will create a folder on the desktop. FHC_Image_Pkg
6 Follow the instructions in the file in order to create bootable USB by using the Rufus tool.
7 Open the file named USB-FHC_Image_v.XX_installation.pdf (where XX is the version number), and follow the instructions to install the image on the computer
8 Read the Windows 10 Upgrade doc fully before you start.

Hello Sister Hatch
I serve in the UK & Ireland Mission and have many experiences of helping our FHCs, with the procedure of upgrading computers running Windows 7 OS, to the new standard Windows 10 Pro OS.
In the UK & Ireland area we have many Dell 9030 and 7440 computers, in need of this upgrade.
I have created support videos, which illustrate the procedure of downloading the installation media, creating the USB installation drive and the running of the installation.
I offer the URL for these videos, which are online and recommend you click the 11 and 12 numbered button links to view them, on this page: https://tinyurl.com/a7usskfp
