Doing entry in a batch someone else mostly populated - Entries are in wrong order
I asked for a batch for doing data entry. I think the computer gave me something for "reindexing". US, Virginia—Death Records, 1853–1900[M37R-B47]
The batch given me is mostly filled out but a lot of fields needed completing. Entries 1-11 are complete, but entry 12 is for line 13, and entry 13 is for line 12, etc. Does the order matter since it is all on the same original document page, ordo I need to re-enter everything on the correct line??
Thanks!

Hi, thanks for sharing the batch. You could delete entry 12 and then order will be restored. With entry 12 on the screen, click the trash can icon, select "current entry", click delete. Now entry 12 is Andrew and entry 13 is Thomas.
But, if this happens again, although it is recommended to keep the records in order, the order does not matter as much as it once did.
It looks like you might have gotten a batch where someone did not know to blank the required fields or use the trash can icon to delete the last unneeded entries. The 6 icon from the right can be used to quickly blank each of those fields at once.

You are welcome! And welcome to Indexing. Here's the trick to fill in all those blanks. Go to the first entry, enter the blank command in the field (Ctrl + B or Cmd + B or the x icon depending on what device you are using). Again click on that field so it is blue, click on the 6th icon from the right and watch all the fields turn to <Blank>. If you need to, you can also remove information that is in a field and render all the fields empty with the tool. Check out the keyboard shortcuts under the help tab for more time-saving tricks.

Thanks. I am new to this and wasn't aware that we could throw in trash. I did as you suggested. Thanks so much!
