Wondering on the Middlesex Parish register if about writing interpretation--title or Mr or initial?

On UK, England, Middlesex—Parish Registers, 1539–1988 [Part B][MSGB-8N2], the last one for October 1656--Wilford--I can tell the father's name is Edw, but is the M? Mr, a title of abreviation?

Also on same page, November 1656--Lawrence, Jane--she is born on October last. Does Last represent the last month or last year or do we know?

Thanks! Elaine

Yes, it's Mr on the first question and Oct last meaning Oct 31 on the second question.
