I am indexing the Virginia births. In the place of birth columns for both the child and the father's residence the word County is written. I'm pretty sure there isn't a city or town named county. Should I include it as a birth place name and index it ,or leave it blank, or index Montgomery (County on the Document) in the County prompt since they specifically recorded "county" as the birth place and residence place?

This is a duplicate question of one asked in the group Indexing Chat. My answer:

I have worked on this project. There is no field for the father's residence county, so I would not worry about that and mark Father's Residence city and state fields blank. I also would not index the birth county for the child because the field help specifically says "Do not assume the name of the county from other information in the document, such as the name of the town or city. Do not index the county listed in the header of the register."
