I have a false family tree connection. How can I delete that connection from the tree? This connection to Francis Napier and Charles Madison Shelton is wrong and not part of the family but how can I delete that connection? Thank You.
A person in Family Tree has the wrong spouse
Article Id: 1432, Published November 25, 2020. You can correct an incorrect couple relationship at any time. Here are the steps to remove or replace an incorrect spouse.
Tip: removing or replacing an individual's records can feel intimidating. Rest assured that changes can be undone in the Latest Changes feature. It's also helpful to record the ID number so that the removed or replaced person is easy to find later on.
Good luck in your efforts in working in your family tree.
Be sure to thoroughly document why you know this connection is wrong. Otherwise the next person to come a long might just put it right back.
Also, before just deleting the relationship, try to evaluate where the error occurred that created the relationship. Were there two Willie Anna Mae Sheltons that got merged together? Are there sources on the record that show two people got confused and mixed up? Did Francis and Charles have a daughter Anna?
If you can fix both your family and Francis and Charles' family with sufficient documentation, you minimize the change the error will be repeated.
Thank you all. I believe the error occurred when the automatic relationship suggestion came about and not knowing any better apparently I must have approved it although I do not remember that. It caused all kinds of problems with the relatives of the former husband.
