Preserve names in Change Log

Please ensure that the change log reflects the name that was used at the time the change occurred or the source was attached!

I have an ancestor, William Daniel, with a very long list of changes in the log.

Earlier this week, someone made multiple merges on this individual (including merging with a William Daniel Spencer), and then changed his name from William Daniel to John Daniel III.

The result was that the entire change log for the original William Daniel now shows all the activity as John Daniel III. This is very problematic as it appears to other users as if all the submitters are adding information for John Daniel III and not for William Daniel. It reinforces the incorrect name and attributes bad connections to good researchers.

This is a serious issue!

Thanks for considering,

Sheryl

This has been an issue since FamilyTree was introduced. However, you can go to Edit the name from the detail page and see all of the changes to the name and the date they occurred. I use this all the time to see what changes have been made in the name as well as birth/christening/death dates.
