Why did my family tree change?

I recently noticed a change in my family tree that I did not make. One of my ancestors listed different parents listed. How do I detach the incorrect information and make the correct changes?

First what you want to do is figure out why these changes were made. Check for new sources. Look in the change log for the name of the person who made the changes. Message that person and ask for details. Someone may have confused two different people and just made a mistake. Or they may have better, more complete information that shows the changes were correct and needed. This is one of the benefits of this shared family tree we are working on. We get to work on our single tree together.

If you post the ID of the ancestor in question, others here can look at the situation and give more specific advice.
