"Follow" and "Label" suggestions
Love the new feature BUT would really like to see some enhancements to make it more useful.
- When I click "Follow" from a person's page, please offer the ability to apply a label right then and there. Don't make me go to the follow area, search for the person, and then add a label and notes.
- On the person's page, you have an indicator that it is followed (or not). I'd like to see the labels up there and my notes (or at least the first line) with a link to pop up the note for full reading - or an indication that there is a note to pop up to read.
- Labels seem to be limited to 10.... which is not nearly enough. I'd like to label by project and I have way more than that.
- With more labels it would be essential to sort them alphabetically.
- In the "follow" area, please allow a search for people without labels. This would greatly simplify adding labels and cleaning up follows.
- Please show the label in "Changes to People You Follow" list. i.e. https://www.familysearch.org/notifications/tree
- When I click through to view activity (https://www.familysearch.org/tree/following/) the labels don't show in most views??? Try clicking on "All Changes"
- I see that I can type in a surname at the top, and then add a label filter to show a subset of those names, but a pretty good portion of my family is from Sweden, so that isn't helpful there. I'd much rather be able to combine more than one label to hone in on what I'm looking for.
I realize that some of my ideas are probably expanding the use of labels beyond what you had in mind when you added it, but I think it would really enhance site.
Thank you
Bev

Excellent comments, Beverly. I've been surprised at the general lack of enthusiasm expressed in this forum, both for the feature itself and requests for enhancements.
I share your ideas on most of the points you raise and have raised some of these points myself, previously.
One other point I raised was the difficuly in adding labels to a rather long "Following" list. Even working through my list in alpha order of surname, I have found the exercise rather slow and cumbersome. One good piece of advice I received on this matter was to switch browser. Indeed, I found I could move on to the next individual much quicker if I used Edge, rather than my usual choice of Firefox, or even Chrome.
Hopefully, the developers are still working on the Labels feature and improvements will be made in the near future.

Great suggested enhancements.
But ...
That said ...
FYI
Your FIRST suggested enhancement is ALREADY catered for / implemented / there / available ...
I have have seen this many times of late; but, never really took much notice ...
After reading your 'post', I suddenly 'twigged' today, when I created a new individual/person; and, selected "Follow", for that individual/person, to add that individual/person to the list of individuals/persons I "Follow".
And ...
There is was ...
Next time that you selected "Follow", for an individual/person, to add that individual/person to the list of individuals/persons that you "Follow", take a look at that "Pop-Up" (ie. "Modal") 'Window' that appears towards the Bottom 'left-hand-side' of the "Person/Details" page/screen.
You will notice at the 'right-hand-side' of that "Pop-Up" (ie. "Modal") 'Window', a Link/Button to "ADD LABEL"
'Voila' ...
Just select that an add a "Label" ...
Easy ...
[ And, so EASY to MISS ... ]
Pictorially
NOT yet "Following"
Select "Follow" ... now "Following" ... But, WHAT is THIS ...
One down, x7 to go ...
I hope this helps (somewhat)
Brett
ps:
FamilySearch
FYI
The following "Knowledge Article" NEEDS updating, to INCLUDE that there is the ABILITY to ADD a LABEL:
How do I follow or unfollow a person in Family Tree?

Hi there,
I agree with what is posted in this forum. It would be convenient if the labels had a drop-down menu available on the person's profile rather than redirecting you to the list of people you follow. As well, it would be convenient to see what labels that person is under right on their profile, rather than going to your list of people you're following, finding that person, and then seeing the labels.

"Labels seem to be limited to 10.... which is not nearly enough. I'd like to label by project and I have way more than that."
There is now the function to create 10 custom labels as well as the 10 pre-set labels. I see that your post was from 2021, so you may have figured this out by now.
