Where do I submit a large amount of corrections?
As I was searching information about my ancestors, through the groups of images, I came across a group that had nothing do with the place (location) it was related in the search criteria.
So I opened a case reporting the mistake. In response I received a message telling that this kind of error is sent to be corrected by a technical staff in Utah, who is currently overloaded, so it might take one year or more to take effect.
I continued my research and found more mistakes on catalogue of images, like wrong date or life event, beyond place.
So I decided to review all groups of images resulting from a search based on the place I'm interested on.
For each group of images I've checked and collected information as: image group number, place (locality/city), life event, the full date of the first and last document and creator.
It's a total of 780 records organized in a spreadsheet. It would demand a lot of work for me to open a case, one by one, explaining each correction and the same amount of work, on the other side, for the person who would read and perform that, one by one. So unproductive.
I'm sure this task can be done at once (in batch), if I find the right person that works at the FamilySearch datacenter. And if this person gives me the codes for some fields like RECORD TYPE (life event) and format for dates, I can send it all ready.
In this way, instead of one year or more, my work could be available to community promptly.
Anyone knows how can I contact the person I need?
Thanks.

Hi @LuisFurlani i have also found many many problems similar to what you are describing. It’s very frustrating because I can’t seem to get any kind of useful answer from anyone about how to fix it. It would be great if FS would give some of us some sort of access to correct these issues... I get really tired of searching for a particular place, time period and/or event, then see the search results match what I’m looking for, only to find that when I click on one of the links in the search results, the records shown have absolutely nothing to do with what I’m searching for.... it seems like it would be so simple to correct these things with entering the correct dates, locations and events... but there’s no option to do that. In addition to that, the record results are usually jumbled together with other records that also have nothing to with what I’m searching for nor do they have anything to do with each other. There’s no rhyme or reason to it!?!? If the “team” who is in charge of fixing these errors are overwhelmed, perhaps FS could offer some sort of virtual program, maybe work something out so we (the users) can make these corrections and make the records not only easier to find, but make it so you have the correct results for what you’re looking for. Just a thought :/

Hi, Luis. It is obvious that you have put a lot of work into this product and that the idea would be useful to many people. We suggest that you copy your suggestion into the Search section where it is more likely to be seen by those who may be able to help you to submit this to the proper folks.

Dear @ME Doran, I accepted your advice and have just copied my question into the Search section right now.
Thanks.

Hi @X24 MOM, I can undesrtand FS may be cautious about delegating some critical updates to the community, but they could make it standardized by creating a template (a Excel like datasheet for example) for submiting these kinds of corrections.
FS could encourage a task force where volunteers, in each place, would revise and report groups of images that have nothing to do with the place it's related to.
I reviewed 780 groups of images by myself in a week, so I'm sure that these task force could put everything in its right place in 2 or 3 months.
Wouldn't it be great?
