Is the highlight tool gone?

Hello,

I have recently started indexing again after a few years. I seem to remember before there was an option on the tool bar that would highlight portions of the image that you needed for indexing but I can no longer see that option. For example, I am indexing birth records right now and it's a sheet with 40 rows. The highlight tool would highlight all the spots on my current row that I would need for the current entry. And if I was zoomed in, when I would hit tab for the next entry, it would move the image to the column that I needed. I remember this tool being very helpful and would love to find it again!

Thanks!

Hi Haley. I’m not sure that it can do everything you described, but there is a ruler/reading guide. It is turned on by clicking on Data Entry > Show Ruler. You control it’s translucency/opacity and color under Batch > Settings > Data Entry. It stays where you place it until you drag it somewhere else.

I do recall that, under the old desktop program. for certain projects with a known format to the image, there was a template that could be superimposed on the image, and/or the Entry panel. There isn’t anything like that feature anymore in the Web Indexing Ptogram. Maybe that’s what you’re referring to.

I know what you are talking about. The area to index was highlighted and it would jump along with the area you were doing. Maybe it's just on certain records or gone altogether?

    It’s gone altogether.

I'm doing marriage records and the highlighter is wonderful. Thanks for reminding me about how to turn it on, John.
